Gel Socks Donated to Ranaviru Sevana

[Ragama, Sri Lanka - 23 June 2008] More than two hundred brave Soldiers gathered to the auditorium at Ranaviru Sevana facility in Ragama to accept the donations provided by Ranaviru Fund. 157 Socket Gel Liners worth more than Rs. 450,000 have been officially handed over to Brigadier Dr Mrs Warusawitharana, Director of Rehabilitation, Sri Lanka Army. Maha Sangha headed by most Venerable Kotapola Amarakhiththi Thero chanted Pirith to bless all our disabled Soldiers and those who fight against LTTE Terrorists in the battle front. To mark the event four amputees those who are currently receiving Walking Aid were offered with the Gel Socks. In addition to Gel Socks, all Soldiers at the facility were offered with a bag of fruits (Apples, Oranges & Grapes) individually at their wards at a cost of over Rs. 25,000.

Ranaviru Day 2008 - Donating Gel Socks

[Scotland, UK - 07 June 2008] Sri Lankans around the World Donated more than £2,200 to date to provide Residual Limb Socks for Sri Lankan War Heroes. With the support of everyone we managed to purchase more than 150 Gel Socks, over 110 above the initial target. Our supplier, Silipos UK was very kind to provide us 15 Gel Socks Free of charge (10%) of our total order.

We received donations of as little as £3 to as greater as £250. We greatly value your Understanding and Generosity regardless of the amount you donated and for the Trust you had on us. We are sure that those in need will best use of these and remember you all.

We are now preparing these Gel Socks to be handed over to Brigadier (Dr Mrs) Sriyani Warusawitharana, Head of the Army Rehabilitation Unit in coming weeks. Today (07 June) these Gel Socks will be handed over by the Donors to be delivered to Sri Lanka during the Ranaviru Commemoration Ceremony in Scotland's Buddhist Vihara, Glasgow, UK.

Ranaviru Day 2008

[Scotland, UK - 06 June 2008] Ranaviru Day (War Heroes' Day) falls on the 07th of June every year to commemorate all members of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces and Police, who laid their lives in the Fight Against Tamil LTTE Terrorism.

This year's Ranaviru Day will be celebrated especially in Sri Lanka and around the World by all Sri Lankans.
